This antibody has specificity for Human Peroxiredoxin 5 (PRDX5).
Target Information
Peroxiredoxin (Prx) is a family of peroxidases involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Mammalian Prx proteins, approximately 20–30 kDa in size, are categorized into typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys Prx subgroups.
Prx VI belongs to the 1-Cys Prx subgroup, while the other five 2-Cys Prx isoforms exhibit thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase (TPx) activity using thioredoxin, thioredoxin reductase, and NADPH as a reducing system.
Subcellular localization varies: Prx I, II, and VI are found in the cytosol; Prx III in mitochondria; Prx IV in the ER and secretory pathways; and Prx V in peroxisomes, mitochondria, and cytosol.
