Target Information
FANCD2 (Fanconi anemia group D2 protein) is required for maintenance of chromosomal stability and promotes accurate pairing of homologs during meiosis. It participates in DNA double-strand break repair via homologous recombination and single-strand annealing. FANCD2 is essential for targeting/stabilization of BLM to abnormal structures induced by replicative stress and promotes BRCA2/FANCD1 loading onto damaged chromatin.
Defects in the FANCD2 gene cause Fanconi anemia complementation group D2, a disorder affecting bone marrow elements resulting in anemia, leukopenia, and thrombopenia.
