The receptor-binding domain (RBD, S-RBD) within the Spike protein binds strongly to human and bat ACE2 receptors, showing higher affinity than SARS-CoV RBD.
The S1 subunit contains the RBD, which specifically interacts with ACE2 receptors on target cells.
