Target Information

C1orf57 (also known as nucleoside triphosphate phosphohydrolase) belongs to the THEP1 NTPase family. It and its mouse homolog, 2310079N02Rik, are 190 amino acid proteins exhibiting nucleotide phosphatase activity toward ATP, GTP, TTP, CTP, and UTP. Acting as a monomer, it hydrolyzes nucleoside diphosphates with lower efficiency.

The gene encoding C1orf57 maps to human chromosome 1, the largest human chromosome, spanning about 260 million base pairs and comprising approximately 8% of the human genome. Chromosome 1 contains about 3,000 genes, many of which are associated with various diseases, including Hutchinson-Gilford progeria (LMNA gene), familial adenomatous polyposis (MUTYH gene), Stickler syndrome, Parkinson’s disease, Gaucher disease, and Usher syndrome.
