Target Information

Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis, consisting of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. These subunits are composed of 4 RNA species and approximately 80 structurally distinct proteins.
The RPL14 gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is a component of the 60S subunit and belongs to the L14E family. It contains a basic region-leucine zipper (bZIP)-like domain and is located in the cytoplasm.
This gene includes a polymorphic trinucleotide (GCT) repeat tract, resulting in a variable stretch of alanine residues. Transcript variants using alternative polyA signals and 5'-terminal exons encode the same protein.
Multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene are dispersed throughout the genome.
