• Reported to react with mouse TERT (mTERT), though binding is weaker and less specific than to hTERT.

Target Information

Telomerase is a ribonucleoprotein polymerase that maintains telomere ends by adding the repeat sequence TTAGGG. It consists of a protein component with reverse transcriptase activity (TERT) and an RNA component serving as a template. Telomerase expression is typically repressed in postnatal somatic cells, leading to telomere shortening and cellular senescence. Deregulation of telomerase may contribute to oncogenesis. In mice, telomerase may also aid chromosomal repair via de novo synthesis of telomere repeats. Multiple alternatively spliced variants of TERT have been identified, with some full-length sequences undetermined.
