Antibody detects endogenous levels of total Antizyme inhibitor 1 (AZIN1).

Target Information

Antizyme inhibitor (AZIN1) is a protein that positively regulates ornithine decarboxylase (ODC) activity and polyamine uptake.
AZIN1 is an enzymatically inactive ODC homolog that counteracts the negative effect of ODC antizymes (OAZ1, OAZ2, OAZ3) on ODC activity by competing with ODC for antizyme binding.
It inhibits antizyme-dependent ODC degradation and releases ODC monomers from their inactive complex with antizymes, leading to formation of catalytically active ODC homodimers and restoring polyamine production.
