Target Information
Hemopexin is a serum glycoprotein that binds heme and transports it to the liver for breakdown and iron recovery. After heme degradation, free hemopexin returns to the circulation. Structurally, it consists of two similar halves (~200 amino acids each) connected by a histidine-rich hinge region, with each half formed by repeating units of 35–45 residues.
