Target Information

This gene encodes a ubiquitously expressed coiled-coil domain-containing protein that interacts with the disheveled protein and acts as a negative regulator of the Wnt signaling pathway.
The encoded protein contains a PDZ-domain binding motif in its C-terminus, allowing interaction with the disheveled scaffold protein, which is critical in regulating Wnt signaling.
The Wnt pathway is essential for embryonic development, tissue maintenance, and cancer progression.
Mutations in this gene are associated with autosomal recessive, primary non-syndromic congenital hydrocephalus, characterized by excessive cerebrospinal fluid accumulation in brain ventricles.
