Target Information

EPHB1 is a receptor tyrosine kinase belonging to the ephrin receptor family. Members of the Eph family play crucial roles in biological processes such as nervous system development, angiogenesis, and synapse formation and maturation. EphB1 and other EphB proteins are type I membrane-spanning proteins with immunoglobulin, fibronectin type III, and cysteine-rich subdomains in their ectodomains, and a cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase domain upstream of a carboxyterminal sterile alpha motif (SAM) domain. EphB family proteins bind to ephrin-B class ligands, which are transmembrane proteins capable of bidirectional signaling. EphB1 is predominantly expressed in developing neural structures and vascular epithelium of kidney and other tissues. Upon binding to oligomerized ephrin B1, EphB1 regulates cell attachment and assembly. Members of this family are implicated in neuronal and vascular cell targeting.
