Target Information
The VPS4A protein belongs to the AAA protein family (ATPases associated with diverse cellular activities) and is homologous to the yeast Vps4 protein. In humans, two paralogs have been identified, both showing high sequence similarity to yeast Vps4 and mouse Skd1 proteins. These paralogs are associated with endosomal compartments and are involved in intracellular protein trafficking. The VPS4A gene is located on chromosome 16, while its paralog resides on chromosome 18.
