Target Information
The VPS28 gene encodes a protein involved in the endosomal sorting of cell surface receptors through the multivesicular body/late endosome pathway. This protein is one of three subunits of the ESCRT-I complex (endosomal complexes required for transport) that sorts ubiquitinated proteins. The other subunits include vesicular protein sorting 23 (TSG101) and vesicular protein sorting 37. Two alternative transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described, and additional transcripts may exist though not experimentally verified.
