MIC0501 targets C Reactive Protein (CRP) in ELISA, IP, and RIA applications and shows reactivity with human samples.
The immunogen is purified human plasma CRP.
MIC0501 detects CRP with a predicted molecular weight of approximately 23 kDa.

Target Information

CRP (C-reactive protein) is a major cyclic, pentameric acute-phase protein composed of five identical, noncovalently bound, nonglycosylated subunits. Each subunit contains 206 amino acids and has a molecular weight of about 24 kDa.
Produced by the liver, CRP levels rise dramatically during inflammation. It initiates the classical complement cascade and binds to nuclear components such as chromatin and histones.
CRP plays an important role in innate immunity and nonspecific host resistance, showing a 100–1000 fold increase in response to injury, infection, or inflammation.
It acts as an opsonin, activates monocytes/macrophages, and may function as a scavenger during cell necrosis. Elevated CRP levels are associated with increased risk of hypertension and cardiovascular disease.
