Invitrogen™ VLA-4 Human ProcartaPlex™ Simplex Kit

The Human VLA-4 Simplex ProcartaPlex™ Kit measures VLA-4 protein and is designed to be combinable with other Simplex kits to create custom multiplex panels using Luminex xMAP technology for protein detection and quantitation.
When combining multiple Simplex kits (e.g., when not using a pre-configured multiplex panel), only one buffer kit (Cat. No. EPX010-10420-901) is required per assay plate regardless of plex size.

About ProcartaPlex Assays for the Luminex Platform

ProcartaPlex immunoassays are based on the sandwich ELISA principle, using two highly specific antibodies binding to different epitopes of one protein to quantitate multiple targets simultaneously using a Luminex instrument.

ProcartaPlex assays utilize Luminex xMAP (multianalyte profiling) technology for simultaneous detection and quantitation of up to 80 protein targets in a single 25–50 μL sample from plasma, serum, cell culture supernatants, and other biological fluids.

Principle of the Assay

The Luminex MagPlex superparamagnetic microsphere beads are internally dyed with precise proportions of red and infrared fluorophores to create 100 spectrally unique bead signatures identifiable by Luminex detection systems (Luminex 200, FLEXMAP 3D, MAGPIX).

Each bead is conjugated with an antibody specific to a single target protein. Bound proteins are detected using biotinylated antibodies and streptavidin–R-phycoerythrin (RPE).
Unlike traditional ELISA, the capture antibody in ProcartaPlex assays is conjugated to a magnetic bead and remains free-floating, allowing efficient multiplexing and reduced sample consumption.

For detection, the Luminex instrument uses two lasers: one to identify bead type and another to quantify RPE fluorescence proportional to protein concentration.
ProcartaPlex assays can profile more proteins with less sample and time compared to traditional ELISA.
