Target Information
ALOX5AP encodes a protein required for leukotriene synthesis in conjunction with 5-lipoxygenase. Leukotrienes are arachidonic acid metabolites involved in inflammatory responses such as asthma, arthritis, and psoriasis. The protein localizes to the plasma membrane, and inhibitors of its function block the translocation of 5-lipoxygenase from the cytoplasm to the membrane, thereby inhibiting its activation.
