Target Information
ATP synthase is an evolutionarily conserved transmembrane enzyme complex found in plants, fungi, bacteria, and animals. It catalyzes the reversible conversion of ADP and phosphate to ATP, driven by proton flux across the membrane. The enzyme consists of two main components:
- F1 ATP-ase (soluble): composed of α, β, γ, δ, and ε subunits
- F0 ATP-ase (membrane embedded): composed of a, b, and c subunits
