Target Information
BRCC36 forms a holoenzyme complex with BRCA1, BRCA2, RAD51, and BRCC45, exhibiting ubiquitin E3 ligase activity. Aberrant BRCC36 levels have been observed in sporadic breast tumors. Depletion of BRCC36 or BRCC45 increases sensitivity to ionizing radiation and induces G2/M checkpoint defects, suggesting a role in cellular survival after DNA damage. BRCC36 is essential for radiation-induced BRCA1 phosphorylation and nuclear foci formation, indicating potential as a target in radiation-resistant breast tumors. At least two isoforms of BRCC36 are known to exist.
