Target Information
The MAP4 protein is a major non-neuronal microtubule-associated protein containing a domain similar to the microtubule-binding domains of neuronal MAP2 and TAU. It promotes microtubule assembly and counteracts destabilization of interphase microtubules. Cyclin B interacts with MAP4 to target CDC2 kinase to microtubules. Phosphorylation of MAP4 affects microtubule properties and cell cycle progression. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms exist.
