Target Information
BAR proteins contain a common N-terminal BAR domain and function as adaptor proteins in diverse cellular processes. BIN1 and BIN2 are members of this family.
The human BIN2 gene is located on chromosome 4q22.1, encoding a 565-amino acid protein (~62 kDa predicted molecular weight).
BIN2 shows preferential expression in hematopoietic tissues, with highest levels in spleen and peripheral blood leukocytes, and also high expression in thymus, colon, and placenta.
BIN2 migrates with apparent mobility of ~80 kDa and interacts with BIN1.
