Target Information
ORM1 (Orosomucoid 1) is an acute phase plasma protein synthesized by the liver. It regulates interactions between blood cells and endothelial cells and, together with haptoglobin and C-reactive protein, mediates cellular extravasation during infection and inflammation. ORM1 is a major acute phase reactant found at 0.5–1.4 mg/mL in human plasma. Its levels increase during acute inflammation (trauma, malignancies, myocardial infarction, rheumatoid arthritis, bacterial infections, major surgery, chronic pain, etc.) and can serve as a diagnostic marker for inflammatory conditions.
