Target Information
TSC22 domain family protein (TSC22) is a transcription factor belonging to the large family of early response genes. It acts as a transcriptional repressor on the C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) promoter. TSC22 is part of the TSC-22/Dip/Bun family and is an intracellular protein found in the cytoplasm or nucleus. It regulates cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis, and modulates the transcriptional activity of Smad3 and Smad4. This protein is ubiquitously expressed in both fetal and adult tissues, notably in aortic endothelial cells, and is induced by cytokines such as TGFB. TSC22 proteins are potential therapeutic targets for leukemia and prostate cancer.
