Target Information
TSC22 domain family protein (TSC22) is a transcription factor belonging to the early response gene family. It acts as a transcriptional repressor on the C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) promoter. TSC22 is part of the TSC-22/Dip/Bun family and may be localized in the cytoplasm or nucleus. It regulates cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis, and modulates Smad3 and Smad4 transcriptional activity. This protein is widely expressed in both fetal and adult tissues, notably in aortic endothelial cells, and is induced by cytokines such as TGFB. TSC22 proteins may serve as potential therapeutic targets for leukemia and prostate cancer.
