Target Information

The protein encoded by this gene is a type I transmembrane protein belonging to the hemopoietin receptor superfamily. It binds interleukin 12 with low affinity and is part of the IL12 receptor complex. The protein forms a disulfide-linked oligomer required for IL12 binding activity. Coexpression with IL12RB2 leads to high-affinity IL12 binding and reconstitution of IL12-dependent signaling. Lack of expression causes immunodeficiency associated with severe mycobacterial and Salmonella infections. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been reported.
