Caveolin-1 (CAV1)은 caveolar 막 내의 스캐폴딩 단백질로, G-단백질 알파 서브유닛과 직접 상호작용하여 그 활성을 조절합니다. 또한 T세포 수용체(TCR) 매개 T세포 활성화에 필수적인 공동자극 신호에 관여합니다. DPP4와 결합하여 T세포 증식 및 NF-kappa-B 활성화를 유도할 수 있습니다.
CAV1 유전자 변이는 선천성 전신성 지방이영양증 3형, 원발성 폐고혈압 3형 또는 부분 지방이영양증/선천성 백내장 및 신경퇴행 증후군을 유발할 수 있습니다.
