Target Information
SLC1A5 (Solute carrier family 1, neutral amino acid transporter, member 5) is a Na(+)-dependent amino acid transporter with broad substrate specificity. It preferentially transports zwitterionic amino acids such as glutamine, asparagine, branched-chain, and aromatic amino acids, while excluding methylated, anionic, and cationic amino acids.
It also functions as a cell surface receptor for feline endogenous virus RD114, baboon M7 endogenous virus, and type D simian retroviruses.
