Product Specific Information
Heat-mediated antigen retrieval is recommended prior to staining, using a 10 mM citrate buffer (pH 6.0) for 10 minutes, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
After antigen retrieval, incubate samples with primary antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
A suggested positive control is small intestine tissue.
Target Information
Villin is part of the cytoskeleton associated with the microvillar actin core bundle of gastrointestinal and renal brush border. It interacts with actin in a Ca²⁺ and phosphoinositide-regulated manner.
Villin serves as a specific marker for adenocarcinomas of the gastrointestinal tract and pancreas. It is also expressed in certain Merkel cell tumors and adenocarcinomas of the lung, prostate, ovary, and kidney.
