Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

CD1a is a non-polymorphic MHC Class I-related cell surface glycoprotein expressed in association with beta-2 microglobulin.
It is found on cortical thymocytes, Langerhans cells, interdigitating cells, certain T-cell leukemias, and other tissues.
CD1a mediates presentation of lipid and glycolipid antigens to T cells and is part of the CD1 family located on chromosome 1.
Five CD1 genes (CD1a, b, c, d, e) are identified, differing in localization and ligand specificity.
CD1a localizes to the plasma membrane and recycling vesicles of the early endocytic system.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed, but their biological validity remains undetermined.
