STK25 (YSK1)는 GCK 계열의 세린/트레오닌 키나아제에 속하며, MAP 키나아제 신호전달 경로의 상위 조절자로 알려져 있습니다.
단백질 키나아제는 ATP의 γ-인산기를 기질 단백질의 아미노산에 전달하여 세포 내 신호전달을 매개합니다.
이 과정은 대사, 전사, 세포주기, 세포골격 재배열, 세포 이동, 세포사멸, 분화 등 다양한 세포 기능을 조절합니다.
단백질 키나아제는 500개 이상의 유전자 산물을 가지며, PTK/STK 도메인 서열 비교에 따라 8개의 주요 그룹으로 분류됩니다.
STE 그룹(yeast Ste7, Ste11, Ste20 kinase의 상동체)은 MAPK 계열과 관련된 50개의 키나아제를 포함하며, 효모의 페로몬 반응 경로에서 잘 연구되어 있습니다.
