Product Specific Information

MA1-70021 detects SIRP in rat samples.
It has been successfully used in flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence, and radioimmunoassay procedures.
The immunogen is rat peritoneal macrophages.

Target Information

SIRP alpha (CD172a, signal-regulatory protein alpha) is a receptor-type transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on myeloid cells including granulocytes, dendritic cells (DCs), macrophages, mast cells, and hematopoietic stem cells.
It acts as a substrate for several activated tyrosine kinases (EGFR, PDGFR, src, insulin receptor) and negatively regulates receptor tyrosine kinase-coupled signaling pathways.
Binding of SIRP alpha to CD47 leads to phosphorylation of ITIMs and recruitment of SHP-1 and SHP-2 phosphatases.
This interaction inhibits macrophage phagocytosis and modulates T cell and DC activation.
SIRP alpha influences cellular responses to serum, growth factors, insulin, oncogenes, hormones, and adhesion, playing roles in physiological and pathological processes.
Cancer cells often overexpress CD47, activating SIRP alpha and preventing macrophage-mediated destruction.
