Aquaporin 12 (AQP12)는 포유류 AQP 패밀리 중 가장 최근에 확인된 구성원으로, 췌장 선방세포(pancreatic acinar cells)에 특이적으로 발현됩니다.
In vitro 연구에 따르면 AQP12는 세포 내 위치에 존재하며, AQP12 결손 마우스(AQP12-KO)를 통해 생리적 역할을 조사한 결과, 정상 조건에서는 WT와 KO 간 뚜렷한 차이가 없었으나, CCK-8 유사체로 유도된 췌장염 상황에서는 KO 마우스에서 더 심각한 조직 손상이 관찰되었습니다.
