Target Information
The FVT1 gene encodes a protein that catalyzes the reduction of 3-ketodihydrosphingosine to dihydrosphingosine. Active site residues are located on the cytosolic side of the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. A chromosomal rearrangement involving this gene is associated with follicular lymphoma (type II chronic lymphatic leukemia). Mutation of a conserved residue in the bovine ortholog causes spinal muscular atrophy.
