Target Information
ZIP10, also known as Slc39A10, is a widely expressed zinc transporter with nine transmembrane domains. Zinc is an essential ion for cells and plays significant roles in growth, development, and differentiation.
ZIP10 mRNA levels are influenced by thyroid hormones—decreased in hypothyroid and increased in hyperthyroid conditions.
It is also upregulated in invasive and metastatic breast cancer, suggesting its potential as a marker for metastatic phenotype and as a target for novel therapeutic strategies.
At least three isoforms of ZIP10 are known to exist.
