Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the F-box protein family, characterized by an approximately 40 amino acid F-box motif. F-box proteins are part of the SCF (SKP1–Cullin–F-box) ubiquitin ligase complex, which mediates phosphorylation-dependent ubiquitination.
F-box proteins are classified into three groups:
- Fbws (containing WD-40 domains)
- Fbls (containing leucine-rich repeats)
- Fbxs (containing other protein-protein interaction modules or no recognizable motifs)
The FBXO6 protein belongs to the Fbxs class and its C-terminal region is highly similar to rat NFB42, which may be involved in cell cycle control.
