Target Information
GAK (Cyclin-G-associated kinase) is a serine/threonine kinase originally identified as a cyclin G-associated protein. Neither CDK5 nor GAK kinase activity is activated by cyclin G, and GAK does not affect CDK5 kinase activity. It functions as an auxilin homolog involved in the uncoating of clathrin-coated vesicles by Hsc70 in non-neuronal cells. Expression oscillates during the cell cycle, peaking at G1.
