Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
Cochlin is a secreted protein encoded by the COCH gene, which is highly expressed in the cochlea and constitutes about 70% of inner ear proteins. It exists in three glycosylated isoforms (p63s, p44s, p40) and contains an N-terminal LCCL domain and two von Willebrand factor A-like domains.
Mutations in COCH are associated with DFNA9, an autosomal dominant nonsyndromic auditory and vestibular dysfunction disorder. These mutations may lead to microfibrillar deposits containing Cochlin in the inner ear. Cochlin is also a target antigen in autoimmune sensorineural hearing loss.
