The Mouse IL-5 Simplex ProcartaPlex™ Kit measures IL-5 protein and is designed to be combinable with other Simplex kits, allowing creation of custom multiplex panels utilizing Luminex xMAP technology for protein detection and quantitation. When combining multiple Simplex kits, only one buffer kit (sold separately) is needed per assay plate regardless of plex size.

About ProcartaPlex Assays for the Luminex Platform

ProcartaPlex immunoassays are based on sandwich ELISA principles, using two highly specific antibodies binding to different epitopes of one protein to quantitate multiple targets simultaneously using a Luminex instrument. These assays require as little as 25 μL of plasma or serum, or 50 μL of cell culture supernatant, with analyzed results obtainable in approximately four hours.

ProcartaPlex assays utilize Luminex xMAP (multianalyte profiling) technology for simultaneous detection and quantitation of up to 80 protein targets in a single small-volume sample from plasma, serum, cell culture supernatants, and other fluids.

The Luminex beads are internally dyed with precise proportions of red and infrared fluorophores to create spectrally unique signatures identifiable by Luminex detection systems (e.g., Luminex 200, FLEXMAP 3D, MAGPIX). Each bead is conjugated with antibodies specific to a single target protein, enabling multiplexed detection using biotinylated antibodies and streptavidin–R-phycoerythrin (RPE).

Unlike traditional ELISA, the capture antibody in ProcartaPlex assays is conjugated to a bead rather than adsorbed to a plate well, allowing free-floating reactions in solution. The Luminex instrument uses two lasers—one to identify bead spectral signatures and another to quantify RPE fluorescence proportional to protein concentration.

ProcartaPlex multiplex assays can profile more targets with significantly less sample volume in the same time as a traditional sandwich ELISA. Multiplex panels are available for multiple species (human, mouse, rat, nonhuman primate, porcine, canine).
