Target Information
The Toll-like receptor (TLR) family in mammals comprises transmembrane proteins characterized by multiple leucine-rich repeats in the extracellular domain and IL-1 receptor motifs in the cytoplasmic domain. The TLR family mediates innate immunity and is essential for microbial recognition. TLR11 specifically responds to uropathogenic bacteria rather than known TLR ligands. TLR11-deficient mice are highly susceptible to kidney infections by uropathogenic bacteria, indicating a protective role in the urogenital system.
