Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins with significant biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight between approximately 40 kDa and 68 kDa, with isoelectric points between 4.9 and 7.8.
Each cytokeratin subtype is characteristic of specific epithelial types and reflects the degree of maturation or differentiation. Cytokeratin expression patterns are widely used to distinguish epithelial malignancies. Cytokeratin antibodies assist in tumor differential diagnosis using immunohistochemistry and are valuable tools in cytopathology and flow cytometry assays.
