Target Information
This gene encodes a bZIP transcription factor that binds to the cAMP responsive element found in many viral and cellular promoters. It plays a key role in cAMP-mediated signal transduction during spermatogenesis and other complex biological processes.
Alternative promoter and translation initiation site usage allow spatial and temporal specificity of cAMP responsiveness. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encode various isoforms functioning as activators or repressors of transcription.
