Target Information
MPP5 (Membrane Protein, Palmitoylated 5) plays a critical role in neurogenesis and hematopoiesis. It is essential for establishing and maintaining cell polarity in epithelial cells and neurons. MPP5 is part of the Par-3 complex, contributing to tight junction maintenance in epithelial cells.
Mutations in MPP5 are associated with severe neurological impairments, including global developmental delay (GDD) and behavioral changes. In animal models, MPP5 is involved in early differentiation of multipotent progenitors and supports long-term lineage-specific contributions, particularly in myeloid and lymphoid cells.
MPP5 variants disrupt normal cellular function, leading to developmental and functional abnormalities.
