ERP29 유전자는 소포체 내강에 존재하는 단백질인 reticuloplasmin을 암호화합니다. 이 단백질은 protein disulfide isomerase 계열과 서열 유사성을 보이지만, thioredoxin 모티프가 없어 disulfide isomerase로 기능하지 않습니다. 이 단백질은 이합체를 형성하며, 소포체 내 분비 단백질의 가공 과정에 관여하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. 대체 스플라이싱으로 인해 다양한 이소폼을 암호화하는 여러 전사체 변이가 생성됩니다.
