Target Information

FLT1 (VEGFR1) is a receptor tyrosine kinase that plays a critical role in angiogenesis. Active angiogenesis is involved in pathological and physiological processes such as tumor progression, diabetic retinopathy, rheumatoid arthritis, and wound healing.
It may act as a negative regulator of embryonic angiogenesis by inhibiting excessive endothelial cell proliferation. In adulthood, it can promote endothelial cell proliferation, survival, and angiogenesis. Its proliferative function is cell-type specific—promoting PGF-mediated proliferation of endothelial and certain cancer cells but not normal fibroblasts (in vitro).
FLT1 has high affinity for VEGFA and relatively low kinase activity, possibly functioning as a negative regulator of VEGFA signaling by limiting free VEGFA and preventing its binding to KDR.
