Target Information
The SNX15 gene encodes a member of the sorting nexin family, which contains a phox domain involved in intracellular trafficking. Overexpression of this gene decreases processing of insulin and hepatocyte growth factor receptors due to mislocalization of furin, the endoprotease responsible for receptor cleavage. SNX15 participates in endosomal trafficking between the plasma membrane, recycling endosomes, and the trans-Golgi network. Multiple transcript variants exist due to alternative splicing, and read-through transcription occurs with the upstream ADP-ribosylation factor-like 2 gene.
