Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, which regulates various cellular processes such as growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation.
This receptor-type PTP has:
- Extracellular region with MAM, Ig-like, and fibronectin type III-like domains
- Single transmembrane region
- Two intracellular catalytic domains
It plays a role in cell-cell recognition and adhesion, and studies in mice suggest involvement in early neural development. Expression is regulated by PMA or calcium ionophore in Jurkat T lymphoma cells.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been reported.
