Target Information
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases with diverse physiological functions. Many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and may serve as novel biomarkers for cancer and other diseases. The KLK8 gene is part of the kallikrein subfamily located on chromosome 19 and may be involved in proteolytic cascades in the skin. It has potential as a biomarker for ovarian cancer. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
