Target Information
Casein kinase II is a protein serine/threonine kinase present in all eukaryotic cells, playing fundamental roles in cellular function. The holoenzyme forms a tetramer composed of two alpha (or alpha-prime) and two beta subunits. The alpha subunit acts as the catalytic unit, while beta subunits serve regulatory roles.
CK2 phosphorylates key signaling proteins involved in tumor suppression (p53, PTEN) and tumorigenesis (myc, jun, NF-kappaB). It also modulates Wnt signaling via beta-catenin phosphorylation and PI3K/Akt pathways.
