Target Information
HFE2는 철 대사에 관여하며, hepcidin 활성화 신호 전달 경로의 구성 요소 또는 hepcidin 발현 조절자로 작용할 수 있습니다. 또한 hepcidin의 세포 수용체 역할을 할 가능성이 있습니다. 다양한 isoform을 인코딩하는 전사체 변이체가 확인되었으며, 이 유전자의 결함은 hemochromatosis type 2A (juvenile hemochromatosis, JH)의 원인입니다. JH는 심각한 철 과부하로 인해 발생하는 조기 발병성 상염색체 열성 질환으로, 저성선자극성 성선기능저하증, 간 섬유증 또는 간경변, 심근병증을 유발하며 일반적으로 30세 이전에 발생합니다.
