HYB 099-02-02 is specific for native chicken ovalbumin (OA).
Cross-reactivity with egg albumin from other species has not been tested.

HYB 099-02-02 has been successfully used in ELISA procedures.
It shows high affinity for OA in its native form but does not recognize denatured OA.
Can be used for immunoprecipitation of ovalbumin.
Not suitable for western blotting procedures.

Epitope specificity differs from HYB 099-01-02 and HYB 099-09-02, as determined by inhibition ELISA.

Target Information

Chicken ovalbumin is the major protein in the white of the egg and is a common antigen in immunological research.
Egg white contains various proteins including ovalbumin, conalbumin, ovomucoid, and lysozyme.
Ovalbumin belongs to the serpin family and the Ov serpin subfamily.
It can cause allergic reactions in humans and is implicated in eggshell development.
Immunohistochemistry shows ovalbumin localized in mammillary bodies of decalcified shell, indicating its presence during early shell formation and incorporation into the matrix.
Its specific role in shell mineralization remains unclear.
