Target Information
The tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor superfamily consists of type I integral membrane glycoproteins with homology in their cystine-rich extracellular domains. Members include TNF-RI, TNF-RII, and CD40. Ligands may be secreted proteins such as TNF or membrane-bound proteins like CD40L.
Activation of TNF-R or CD40 induces nuclear translocation of NFκB, mediated by TRAF family proteins. TRAF4, originally termed CART1, is specifically expressed in breast carcinomas and localized to the nucleus.
