Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

The progesterone receptor (PR) is a member of the steroid family of nuclear receptors that mediates the physiological effects of progesterone. Progesterone plays a central role in reproductive processes, including establishment and maintenance of pregnancy.

PR exists as two forms:

  • PR-A (94 kDa)
  • PR-B (120 kDa)

PR-B is the transcriptionally active form responsible for activating genes involved in endometrial maintenance, pregnancy, and ovulation inhibition. PR-A differs from PR-B by a 165 amino acid deletion at the N-terminus, exposing a 140 amino acid inhibitory domain that represses steroid hormone transcriptional activity.

In its inactive state, PgR forms a multiprotein complex with heat shock proteins and immunophilins. Upon progesterone binding, conformational changes allow receptor dimerization and binding to progesterone response elements (PRE), leading to transcriptional activation. A null mutation in the PGR gene results in pleiotropic reproductive abnormalities.
